Failed to read from sector of hard disk Error on a new SSD

Thread solved

Hello,

Today I got a new Crucial MX500 1TB SSD which I intend to replace my laptop's 1TB HDD with. I installed Acronis True Image for Crucial, which I believe is based on ATI 2020, and I followed the instructions to do a live cloning on windows 10.

I attached the SSD through an adapter, and it appears in ATI as "Not initialized". After selecting the source and destination drives, and that I want a clone of a bootable drive to be used on the same computer, that is the step before last, I get the error message "failed to read from sector '2 048' of hard disk '2'", with hard disk 2 being the new SSD.

I have tried to search this error, but I couldn't find a similar case for a brand new SSD, and I am concerned that the problem is in the SSD or the adapter. Please advise me.

Thank you and any help is appreciated.

I managed to solve the problem by initializing the drive and formating it. I did a CHKDSK /R but nothing needed repairing. Although it said that the disk can be uninitialized when cloning, for me it was not the case.
