Files restore with 0 bytes

Thread needs solution

Hello all. I am looking for some help with restoring files from a backup.

I am running Acronis True Image 2020, build 22510. My laptop is running Windows 10 Pro, version 1903.  I am backing up the entire c-drive to a Western Digital NAS appliance via an ISCSI connection to an I-drive on my computer. Backups have been completing successfully. Validate operation completes successfully.

I can browse to a TIBX file. I can traverse the TIBX file and view the files. The correct file names and file sizes are shown. If I copy the file(s) and paste the file(s) the restored files are created with the correct file names, but the file sizes are all 0 bytes.

If I try to use the Restore function Acronis True Image 2020, I can browse the backup files and find the desired files, but when I click restore, I get an error message "Recovery to the original location failed due to an error today at x:00pm. Error occurred while recovering."

I have created a case with tech support (04316567) but so far no resolution has been found. We did a separate test backup of one file, and it successfully restored, and I can successfully traverse the TIBX files, so I do not think there is any connectivity problem to the Western Digital NAS appliance.

Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Lloyd

Hello Lloyd,

sorry to know about the issue! Could you please clarify if the files in question belong to the OneDrive folder? The description of the issue looks similar to https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis-true-image-2017-forum/ati17-message-failed-recover-file-or-folder

Lloyd,

Open the TI app, select the backup task by clicking on it if it is not already selected.  Once selected, click on the destination, navigate to the correct destination where the backup files are saved and click to select it.

This might not work but often times doing this seems to update the apps internal tracking for a backup task and gets things working again.

Hello. I know this is an old topic, but i have exactly the same problem (like Lloyd):

I can browse to a TIBX file. I can traverse the TIBX file and view the files. The correct file names and file sizes are shown. If I copy the file(s) and paste the file(s) the restored files are created with the correct file names, but the file sizes are all 0 bytes.

If I try to use the Restore function Acronis True Image 2020, I can browse the backup files and find the desired files, but when I click restore, I get an error message "Recovery to the original location failed due to an error today at x:00pm. Error occurred while recovering."

My Backup is stored on USB Samsung Disk. ATI can not restore the correct file size!

Is there any solution?

TIA

Michael

Dear Michael,
We recommend installing a trial version of Acronis Cyber Protect Home
Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office, where we have implemented a lot of enhancements and fixes. If the issue reproduces please contact our support for help: https://www.acronis.com/support/
