Major Problem - Restoring the Acronis TBIX image

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

Since straighten out, but I needed to restore my Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit Partition with Build 18362.295. I was not able to update past Build 18362.295. Tried imaging the current partition then restoring. But that did not work. It failed when I tried to run from its operating system. When it restarted, it could not find the image file, which exists.

Then I restarted the computer and when into my Windows 10 Pro 32-bit Build 18980.1. I had to upgrade from Acronis True Image 2019 Build 17750 to Acronis True Image 2020 Build 20770 Build. I was able to restore afterwards but left Errors on the Hard Drive on the Destination Partition.

It created major errors as you can see.

By the way, this is an MBR Disk, not GPT Disk. Not using GPT Disk, because I can't use Visual BCD Editor with GPT Disks.

Logs will be sent from the 32-Bit partition.

Morton, sorry but I am not sure what errors you say you are seeing here and am not familiar with the partition tool you are using in the screen image here?

I assume that you have a dual-boot system here from your comments of having a mix of both Windows 10 64-bit and 32-bit OS's, therefore the issue of whether the image file was visible or not would depend on how your drives are configured in this scenario, along with needing to have ATI 2020 in order to work with the new .tibx archive files.

I haven't used Visual BCD for a long time as I found EasyBCD to be much simpler to understand and use, though recently I have been using BOOTICE from www.ipauly.com (recommended by Bobbo) as it works better with UEFI / GPT than EasyBCD does.

Hi Steve Smith,

That is a picture of BootIt NG Work with Partitions window. I use it to boot to 3 Hard Drives, Once I boot to the Hard Drive, Windows Boot Managers take over. The program detects Errors on the Hard Drives.

Sorry Morton, but I am not the wiser here? I know nothing about BootIt NG and how it works or why it would detect any errors / what those errors might be?

When I use dual-boot, I am just using the Windows Boot Manager to select which OS to boot without the need to have multiple such Windows Boot Managers.  I have done this with 2 copies of Windows 10 alongside Ubuntu 18.04 on my Dell laptop, where the Win Boot Manager launches the Linux OS too.

Hi Steve Smith,

BootIt NG boots to the Hard Drives only. It acts like the BIOS Boot Manager, except in Software Form.

This image is taken after the repairs were done. I only lost the Partition Images from my other Hard Drive. In other words, when I create Images, the Images are placed on another partition on a different internal Hard Drive.

This image shows no errors and you can see the difference by comparing both images.

Disk Director 10 or 12 does not offer this ability to boot to the Hard Drive and let the Windows Boot Manager take over.

Morton, thanks for the further information - when I looked at the BootIt NG website it says that it is an obsolete product, having been superceded by later products such as BootIt UEFI etc.

I suspect that ATI has no idea of how to work in this environment using such a non-standard boot selection application.

Hi Steve Smith,

Acronis True Image 2019 Build 17750 has had no problems restoring partitions in this environment, so I am only reporting the problem when using Acronis True Image 2020 Build 20770 to restore.

I am familiar with an upgrade to using BootIt Bare Metal, but doesn't work correctly with MBR Disk Drives.

I only use it to boot to the Hard Drives, not the operating systems. And I can't use BootIt UEFI on this computer, as the BIOS isn't a UEFI BIOS. My other Computer is a UEFI BIOS.

Morton, I can only suggest that you open a Support Case direct with Acronis to get their take on this issue here.

Hi Steve Smith,

I already did by sending Feedback through the Product and referencing this thread.

I have reinstalled Acronis True Image 2019 Build 17750, which I had no problems with.

I will just wait until the Next Build of Acronis True Image 2020 to retry.

It isn't absolutely necessary, that they fix the problem right away, as I have Acronis True Image 2019 to fall back on, which works.
