No difference in backup size between Compression None and Compression Low

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have a 1 TB drive which has 750GB of files on it. Using ATI 2021.

I created two backups: one with compression set to None and the other set to Low.

Both come in at 250GB (which makes it seem like compression is enabled even when set to None) -- identical sizes.

Any idea why this might be?

Thanks

Christopher, there is minimal information published by Acronis regarding the compression options and feature.

I suspect that Acronis may use some minimal compression regardless of electing to set the option to None but that is just my opinion.

Personally, I have always just left Compression and most of the other Advanced Options for my tasks at their supplied default settings and all has worked fine for me.

If you really want a backup of a 750GB volume of data on your 1TB to be of that size then perhaps you should look at the Advanced > Image creation mode setting where if you use the option for 'Sector-by-Sector' it will produce a much larger backup file that ignores compression.
