Recovery Using Media Builder

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have been trying to make a recovery from a backup made of an HDD with a size of 500GB to a new SSD with a size of 230GB.

I have only backed up the Windows volume C: from the HDD and when I try and proceed with the "What to recover step" I choose the whole disk which got 3 partitions (NTFS System reserved - Parition F, NTFF Sysvol C: Partition G and lastly MBR and Track 0).

When I choose the whole disk I I get 3 new settings for each partition, Settings of partition F, Setting of partition G and MBR of Disk 2).

1st I go for the NTFS sysrem reserved "partition F settings" and I choose the new partition location (New SSD) - Image 2

2nd I go for the NTFS Sysvol C: partition G settings and when i try and choose the new SSD as the new partition location it is greyed out and I cannot proceed further. - Image 4

Any idea why is that happening?

Omar, welcome to these public User Forums.

When doing the restore of your backup, this needs to be done as a Disk & Partition restore and at the top Disk selection level.

Please see forum topic: [How to] recover an entire disk backup - and in particular the attached PDF document which shows a step-by-step tutorial for doing this type of recovery / restore.
