Restore Non-RAID backup to RAID 1

Thread needs solution

I want to migrate my non-raid system to a new RAID 1 configuration.

I have a backup of the existing PC and have setup the new PC (new disks) as a RAID 1 (in BIOS) with Windows 10 installed.

Can I start the Acronis application in Win 10 and restore the backup to the new RAID 1 configuration?

Cheers
Greg

Some comments:

Your RAID1 disk array needs to present as if it is a single disk drive.

You should create the Acronis Rescue Media using the Simple option on the new computer then use this to boot that computer rather than attempting to start any restore from within Windows, as the latter will still require a Windows restart but will boot into a temporary Linux OS environment.

Restoring your backup from a different computer to the new RAID1 computer will wipe out the installed Windows 10 OS.  I would recommend making a backup of that Windows 10 OS before embarking on this path.  You will also need to activate the restored copy of Windows 10 for the new hardware in the second computer.

When using the Acronis Rescue Media, you need to match the BIOS boot mode used by the target computer.  So if your new computer booting using UEFI / GPT, then the rescue media must do the same.

In addition to Steve's comments, is the RAID one configured in the bios (assuming so, but want to be sure).  If it's a software RAID then you'd lose that when you restore the OS, but if it's configured into the bios configuration or a dedicated hardware raid controller, then that should be fine.

Windows 10 also makes things easier with hardware compatibility.  So if the old system was AHCI and you're going to RAID, it should be able to handle the change as well.
