A very long time ago...Acronis could recover Windows images?

Thread needs solution

Is this still functional? I have a fried motherboard in one of my P.C.'s that runs machinery (CNC) and the only backup I have is windows backup recovery image file.

I have already bought a new (used) P.C. but I need to recover the data and files from the old drive, including the applications.

I don't believe Windows Recovery will allow the image file to be written to different hardware so that's no help to me...I do have Acronis and have had it for years though rarely had to use it.

Will acronis get me through this, or am I screwed???

Bob, I can only suggest to take a read of KB 3648: Restoring Windows 7 VHD Backup Files with Acronis True Image Home which discusses this topic for some of the older versions of ATI from 2010 to 2014 if you have one of these.

See the ATI 2014 User Guide: Recovery using .vhd files created by Windows Backup for more information.
