Legacy heritage of Acronis True Image in the main where the 32-bit version is compatible with all current PC's whether 32 or 64-bit.

The Linux version of the ATI rescue media does offer a choice of 32 & 64 bit applications but this can only be used offline from Windows.

Acronis may decide to produce a 64-bit application for home users but there have been no announcement in this direction to date.

I hope there will be a 64-bit version of True Image available for the next version. TI 20xx are sluggish and the interface when selecting files/folders for backup is still sluggish as well. Porting apps from 32-bit to 64-bit is always a good thing when it comes to overall performance.

I rather see a 64-bit backup version without protection features than a 32-bit loaded with protection features that brings the app down on it´s knees.

One possible solution I have found is to have the least amount of RAM installed. A pc with 8GB RAM and a relatively good processor is much faster to respond to interactions than one with a high spec CPU and loads of RAM

Test system - Intel Core 3 with 8GB ram versus twin zeon and 96GB ram
