Are the system tray icons still required?

Thread needs solution

I've always hated Acronis putting a system tray icon when I just need to do a backup.  I don't need real-time backup, I don't need malware protection (from Acronis).  And I don't schedule anything.  I just fire up Acronis, manually kick off a backup and shut it down.

Does Acronis 2021 still insist on putting a system icon when all of it's "additional" services are not wanted nor needed?  Thank you.

Hansang Bae, there is still a system tray icon shown with ATI 2021 which is used as a simple Notification area that users can check with a single click.

If you don't need or want to see the system tray icon, then you could try disabling TrueImageMonitor.exe from starting automatically as this: "Manages Tray Notification Center, displays tray notifications about the task status and allows user interaction."

See KB 65464: Acronis True Image 2021: Windows services and processes - for more details on all these components.

Thanks.  In the past, I've tried disabling every service yet the icon remained.

To remove the taskbar icon:

  1. Right click on the Taskbar
  2. Select Taskbar settings from the resulting menu
  3. Scroll the resulting window down to locate "Notificattion area"
  4. Click on Select which icons appear on the taskbar
  5. From the result locate the Acronis True Image 2021 entry and tick the toggle button to Off

Thank you.  But  I'm aware.  But the point is that *I* should have the choice of having a useless icon on my system tray or not.  I can get the OS to do it, but every time I install an app that I want to have a system tray icon, I have to modify the setting.

I understand I'm in the minority in being picky about who gets access to system tray.  I get that ti's a small thing, but it annoys me to no end that an app installs the icon w/o asking for my approval.  And as I mentioned, I have no use for it so I should have that option w/o changing the OS setting (causing me work going forward)

Sorry but this is just a user forum and we users have no direct influence on the design of Acronis products.  Please use the Feedback tool to make your comments about the use of the system tray icon known directly to Acronis.

The blame goes to Apple, MS, and users whom wanted this feature on their GUI.  I get your point but in this case the majority of users got their wish.

Yes, I would agree.   I've repeated asked Acronis to give us the option of not having a system tray if it's not needed.  But I get that I'm in the minority.
