ATI2021 Problems
Since upgrading to ATI2021 (Build 30290): 1) Backup no longer recognizes the backup destination drive, 2) the "Options" button on Backup no longer functions, I click on it and nothing happens. Additionally, I ran System Clean Up and finally canceled it after it had been running for over twenty-four hours with no sign of completing any time soon; this was on a one terabyte SSD with approximately 500 GB of free space at the outset of the process. I've been pleased with Acronis True Image in the past, but it may be time to find a new back up software. Note: The OS is Windows 10 Home, Version 2004, Build 19041.450.

No guarantee that this issue is fixed in the new build; the release notes give little information. Some other issues appear to have been fixed, or mitigated. My understanding is that the new build is primarily directed to fixing the bug preventing PC from entering sleep mode.
So it is worth trying; reports so far indicate that things have not got worse with the new build, and in some aspects have improved.

I couldn't find an answer in user guide :
I understand that installing the new 2021 will disable Windows 10 Defender.
I don't use Defender but use a 3rd party A/V software.
Will Acronis 2021 disable that software too ?
Is there a notification/warning asking for approval on disabling installed A/V software ?
Two A/V app should never run in real time

Yes, Acronis is asking after installation and starting if you want to disable your antivirus software. So it was with GData.

The ATI 2021 Protection feature should NOT disable any third-party antivirus / security software unless the user decides to do so by uninstalling that software.
It will disable Windows Defender as all other third-party software does too.
Personally I have the Protection feature turned off fully and am using Windows Defender at this time as cannot get Protection to stay turned on!! (It turns itself off again after a few seconds!).

It may not disable third-party security software, but ATI just had a good try at messing with my Malwarebytes installation. The last scan I ran tried to quarantine a file from my Malwarebytes folder.
I know Malwarebytes is a competitor, but that's going a bit too far.

When running multilpe AV programs, it's recommended to add them to each other's exclusion lists to prevent conflicts.
As for ATI (or any other AV program) "disabling" Windows Defender, it's more the case that Windows Defender detects another AV program and disables itself:

It quarantined files that it should not such as *.ost which cannot for technical reasons be restored at the moment or possibly never restored. At present it cannot be trusted. My recollection is that this did not happen with Beta version.

Chris, welcome to these public User Forums.
Are you running the ATI 2021 Realtime Protection option on this computer with Malwarebytes?
What does Windows Security show as the main security providers on your PC?
If Malwarebytes is intended to be your main antivirus / realtime protection provider, then you should not have the ATI 2021 realtime protection enabled (in my opinion).
Otherwise, you should setup Protection exclusions for your Malwarebytes application and folders.

Am I understanding this correctly, that the ATI install process assumes that ATI Cyber Protection is the desired AV protection without providing the user an option? Is there an option to just install the backup/imaging portion of the product or just cyber protection, or is it an all or none scenario?
I am just trying to understand how the OP arrived at the current situation that is being discussed and what I may face should I decide to upgrade to 2021.

Rick, if you have one of the mainstream third-party antivirus / security applications, then ATI 2021 should not change anything and leave the existing security provider as is.
If you only have Windows Defender, then ATI will assume the primary role of security provider and turn off Defender.
No option is shown to the user in the above actions!
The user will see a 'nag' suggesting the PC is not fully protected if the ATI protection is not being used for any reason with the suggestion that the user should uninstall the third-party application in favour of having the full ATI protection instead!
All of the above seems to be a different topic to that raised by the OP of this topic about not recognising the backup destnation drive!

For Antivirus, Windows Security says "Acronis True Image is turned on" and "Microsoft Defender Antivirus is turned off".
I'm going to turn off Real-time Protection on ATI. No disrespect to Acronis, but Microsoft have been in the antivirus business for a lot longer than Acronis so if I have to choose one or the other I'll go with Windows Defender, at least for the time being.
I only ever bought True Image to handle my backups and never really wanted all these other bells and whistles that they have since foisted on us.

Chris, please submit Feedback direct to Acronis on how you feel about them bundling in these new protection features! I have tried saying the same to them back from before the Beta was announced but they do not appear to be taking any notice and ploughing ahead regardless of user opinion! We need all users who are unhappy with these new features to make that known to Acronis via the Feedback tool and not just in these forums (which I doubt any of the important Acronis people ever bother to visit!).

Hopefully they'll listen as users start to go elsewhere. I have cancelled my ATI subscription & I'm trialling EaseUS.
For me ATI2021 doesn't work at all.
Goodbye Acronis. Listen to your users!!
