Come creare immagini .Tib con ATI 2021

Thread needs solution

Luca, welcome to these public User Forums.

Hello, it will seem strange but I can't create a Backup image with .Tib extension

On my new laptop I installed ATI 2021 (3 licenses) First I tried to create an incremental image and I noticed that the extension was not Tib but Tibx. Then I created a single image and also here I create it with Tibx extension. The problem is that in going to try if it worked I realized that with the Acronis bootable media disk 1) I don't see the NAS where the backups are recorded 2) the Italian keyboard doesn't load me 3) I don't see the network. I have run some tests from the command string and both the network and the NAS are pingable that is reachable. I then created an FTP connection and managed to reach the folder where I performed the Backup which, however, being of Tibx extension I do not see. While I can see backups of another portable machine with Tib extension. Then by dint of hacking from the Acronis Boot Support disk in the file selection part there is a menu and putting Nonstop Backup Archives (cdp.data; cdp.metadata; image.data; *. Tib) the backup file is seen but I signal an error in opening it.

Can you give me information where I'm wrong .... how do I create a backup with Tib extension and why does it create it in Tibs instead?

Luca, starting from ATI 2020, Acronis changed the type of backup files being used for Disks & Partitions backup tasks to be .tibx files.  These files are ported from the Acronis premium business backup product range where they have been used for many years and offer greater security and reliability.

The Acronis bootable Rescue Media is fully able to work with both .tibx and .tib files, and can work fine with most NAS destinations provided you have a working network connection.

If you use FTP, then it expects to find only .tib files because of limitations with that protocol such as 2GB maximum file size etc, so this will not show you the .tibx files as these can be very much larger than 2GB.

To see / use the correct keyboard in the rescue media, you should be using the 'Simple' method of creating this as Windows PE media based on your Windows Recovery Environment files, where it should pick up your language settings etc.

Grazie

Thanks Steve for your reply and for your concern.

I am really trying all of them and I can't solve the problem.

From w10 I regularly open the file with Tibx extension which is registered on the Synology NAS so I can say with certainty that the Backup works.

The problem in my opinion is in the created Acronis Boot media. I tried, as per your instructions, to use a support created with the simple method but it doesn't work. I do not see the NAS and under the heading network there is nothing and therefore the ok button is not enabled. I also tried from Windows to create a Z: network connection with the folder path on the NAS. no way.

I tried to create both WinPE and Linux based support nothing to do. At this point it remains for me to think that there is something configured in my PC's BIOS that is preventing me from loading the recovery disk correctly. I checked and did not notice any particular restrictions.

I also downloaded the ISO media from the site but even with this the PC freezes.

I also asked for help by opening a tiket but I have not yet received an answer.

I rely on your experience because I have run out of my resources and knowledge.

Thank you

Luca, the 'Simple' WinPE version of the ATI 2021 rescue media should automatically include device drivers for your installed network card but you would need to establish a connection manually from your PC (when booted from the rescue media) to your Synology NAS.

The first step of testing the media should be to test that you have an active network connection and that an IP address has been allocated to the PC.  To do this, you need to close the Acronis application panel by clicking on the [X] in the top right corner, so that you can see the black Windows Command prompt panel that is open below this.

You need to press the Ctrl+C in the Command window to bring a flashing prompt to use but keep the window open.

Once you can type into the Command window, type the command: ipconfig which will show you if you have an active connection and have been given an IP address.

If you see a valid IP address for your network adapter, then you can ping the IP address of your NAS to check it is reachable on your network.

ping 192.168.0.29   (change the IP address to the address of your NAS).

If you get a valid response to the ping, then you can map a drive letter to the NAS.

net use S: \\192.168.0.29\Backup

Example:

X:\windows\system32>wpeinit

X:\windows\system32>"X:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\trueimage_starter.exe"
Terminate batch job (Y/N)? N

X:\windows\system32>ipconfig
