Creating WinPE rescue media on 1GB USB Stick

Thread needs solution

I am trying to create a WinPE rescue media on a 1GB USB stick. While the program copies the files to the stick, it terminates prematurely, as if there were not enough space on the stick.

I then created an ISO of the rescue media and copied that to the same 1GB stick using Rufus. This worked without any issues and the stick in the end has around 130MB free space.

Is it not possible to create rescue media directly on a 1GB USB stick?

Thanks for any hints

A minimum of 2GB is required to create the standard media

Is there a performance difference between the Rufus generated and the standard stick? I noticed my Rufus stick takes a long time to boot

Yes.  The ISO file is a Linux variant of the Acronis True Image boot media.  The standard or Simple file is a WinRE based file and in general will be a bit faster.  Much depends on if you are using USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 with 3.0 being much faster than 2.0 as you would expect.
