Hanging after entering backup location filename and hitting OK (for ex4 backup)
Hi there. 10-year acronis user here but have basically only used it for the bootable USB. I just upgraded to 2021 as it has support for ext4 which doesnt appear to need to be sector by sector to back up.
This is my current use case:
- Bootable USB created by Acronis 2021 booted in UEFI mode on the PC
- PC is a NUC with Linux installed to the single HDD
- Acronis loads, I select Backup - it sees the partitions (efi and ext4 on this drive) - select to backup the whole disk
- Then Browse to select the backup location - destination is another (known working) USB hdd plugged in to the PC
- Enter filename for the backup, hit OK
- Acronis hangs..
Have rebooted and attempted multiple times.
All I could find regarding this was a thread from 10 years ago where it said to enter command line mode and enter acpi=off noapci - I did this in when booting - entering command line mode - but it took me to Busybox and I was lost from there.
Would appreciate some help on this as I upgraded so that I could use Acronis to backup and reimage Linux PC's as I do my Windows PC's without having to do sector by sector.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I've been using my WinPE 2017 USB for years now and its done the job. Just didn't want to do the whole rigamaroll. I dont want to faff around in dism and crap to get drivers going (which is why i dont use RST) but i'll give it a shot for this particular issue. Thanks for the reply. I'll report back with my results.

Still no luck. Created a WinPE Acronis bootable stick. Boots up, now I can get past selecting a location! However, it simply hangs on "Preparing Data.." - tried setting the destination to a FAT32 USB stick and an NTFS hard drive - no luck.

Came to this forum looking for a solution to the same exact problem. Acronis 2020 works fine. But Acronis 2021 hang exactly as the OP describes. Only difference is that I use a bootable DVD.

Andrew, Mike, I can only recommend that you (and any others seeing the same issue) report this directly to Acronis by opening support cases with them given the issue exists with both the Linux and WinPE media.
