More than a little confused about my "TI Advanced" and "TI 2021" accounts .

Thread needs solution

I updated from TI 2019 to TI 2021 for my two Windows 10 PCs as soon as it was available, then in April, I decided to upgrade to TI Advanced to take advantage of remote backups.

When I subscribed to TI Advanced, I received a new license, but was never asked to enter it. The first time I started TI after the upgrade, I found that I was in "Advanced" mode with the ability to do remote backups. I've been doing local backups and remote backups with no problem since April.

Yesterday I decided to finally start backing up my laptop, so I added that device to my TI 2021 account. Very much to my surprise, I found that the device was actually running TI Advanced and was able to do remote backups of my laptop.

The real confusion comes when I look at my "Account."

In "Products" it shows "TI Advanced" with just one PC, which is my LAPTOP. It also shows that I have licenses for two more PCs.

The Products display doesn't show any detailed information about the TI 2021 account, so I don't know which PCs it thinks are active on it.

In summary, I have THREE PCs doing local and remote backups, while the account is showing that I'm only using one of the three licenses for remote backups.

What's going on here?

The problem of reporting incorrect number of devices using ATI has been around for a long time. I believe there is a solution but cannot remember what it is.

I suspect what you are seeing with the automatic switching from Perpetual to Subscription is by design; this may be particularly the case where you have upgraded to a subscription version rather than buying a new subscription - I am unsure which you did.

Judging from the invoice, the move to TI Advanced appears to have been handled as a new subscription, with a new product key, links to download the software and a one-year expiration date.

The software I downloaded was actually the same TI 2021 that I'd been using, and when I installed it I was never asked to use the new product key and I was immediately able to use the new cloud features of TI Advanced on the two PCs already active in TI 2021.

It was only when I activated my laptop that things got weird.
