True Image and Dropbox

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis 2021 with Cloud Backup.  How does Acronis deal with the Dropbox folder.  Does it include it or exclude by default?  If it does include, what does it do with the online only files?

thanks

Mike, ATI will only backup files / folders for any cloud service which are physically present on the source system, so if your files are stored in the Dropbox cloud servers they will not be included. ATI does not process reparse points used to hold the location of online files / folders.

Steve, I suspect that when you say " if your files are stored in the Dropbox cloud servers they will not be included" you mean that they are not also stored locally. If they are stored locally (downloaded to the computer being backed up) they will be backed up. On most of my computers, I have all my Dropbox files stored locally.

Ian, agreed!

I just setup TI 2021 on a new computer.  I thought that TI cloud backups automatically excluded things like Dropbox and Outlook OST files (maybe prev version of TI).  However, it looks like TI includes the Dropbox folder.  My DB is around 1.2 TB but I only have around 400GB local using the smart sync.  I think I will exclude the DB folder from the TI Cloud Backup.  In the event I need to restore my system, I will most likely unlink DB, restore the system, and reinstall/re-link DB.

With that said, I plan on doing local backup with TI also a HD and will most likely include DB.  But again, in my case, not all of my files are local in DB using smartsync.

Thanks
