I had Acronis True Image backing up a computer that I no longer use. I don't want to keep paying for it, so...

  1. What is the best way to retrieve the backup files? I don't really want to restore them to my new computer, just have them available just in case.
  2. What happens if I just let the licence lapse?

Richard, welcome to these public User Forums.

The first question here is to ask what type of license for ATI you have?

If you have a perpetual license / 'Standard' edition of ATI then the license is paid for once and is valid for as long as it continues to work with your Windows OS.

If you have a subscription license / 'Essential, Advanced or Premium' editions, then the license is valid for as long as the subscription is maintained.  If you allow the subscription to lapse or not renew it, then all main functionality for ATI was stop working except for the ability to Recover any existing backup images created during the subscription period.

With regards to any backup images, this depends on where they are stored?

If they are stored in the Acronis Cloud then these will be deleted 30 days after the end of your subscription, with warnings to you to advise this!

If they are stored on any of your local or network disk drives, then they are yours to keep for as long as you wish!
