Acronis True Image Echo and Windows 2008 R2 issue

Thread needs solution

Hi There,

I recently upgraded my Windows 2003 R2 server to Windows 2008 R2. Since the upgrade Acronis True Image Echo Server for Windows installed on the server stopped working with the following error message:

Program Compatibility Assistant
This program is blocked due to compatibility issues
Program: Acronis True Image
Published: Acronis
Location: C:\Program Files (x86)Acronis\TrueImageEchoServer\TrueImage.exe

The application event log shows the floowing critical error event:

The application (Acronis True Image, from vendor Acronis) was hard-blocked and raised the following: Acronis True Image is incompatible with this version of Windows. For more information, contact Acronis.

I tried un-installing and re-installing Acronis. I also tried using Compatibility tab on the application properties window but with no luck.

I will appreciate any help with this.

Kind Regards,
Piotr

In order to investigate the issue I would recommend you open a new support case using the following link http://www.acronis.com/support/index.html

Attach the following diagnostic information to your reply:

- Press the Start button, choose Run, type "drwtsn32" and hit Enter;

- In the dialog that appears check the "Log File" and "Crash Dump" paths, then click the OK button;

- Reproduce the problem;

- Pick up the user.dmp and drwtsn32.log files in the directory specified at step 2 and send them to us.

Also include sysinfo:

- Open Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Information;

- Choose the "Save" option in the "File" menu (or "Action" menu under Windows 2000), enter the "File name" and set the field "Save as type" to "System Information File (*.NFO)";

- Send us the saved file.

You missed the point here

He is running Windows Server 2008 x64 R2

It runs fine on the original W2k8 x64 server but not *R2*

It is BLOCKED by MS as described because of a potential problem program in *R2* that can cause reboot problems if allowed to install or run.

Is there a new version yet to fix this?

I am having the same problem.

Phil

I, too, am having the same problem. I am using the most recent upgrade for Echo Enterprise Server 9.1 (Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server Upgrade July 1, 2009) build 8353.

While your support matrix at http://kb.acronis.com/sites/default/files/content/2009/05/2779/os.support_matrix.html states that Echo Enterprise Server supports "Windpws(sic) Server 2008 x32/x64 All Editions", it does not support WinServer 2008 R2.

Jon

I am having the same problem with my Windows Server 2008 R2 "This program is blocked due to compatibility issues" what is the solution?

I have the same Problem. Is there a solution for the problem without new purchase?

According to Acronis support, Unfortunately Acronis True Image Echo Server does not support Windows Server 2008 R2. Please refer to Page 12, Section 2.1.2 of the user guide, http://download.acronis.com/pdf/TrueImageServerEcho_ug.en.pdf

Hi,

I'm in a similar situation, I've installed Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server (9.7) on a Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) and now I cannot uninstall it. It fails to uninstall.

I've tried to:
- repair the installation, and uninstall - not uninstalling
- tried to upgrade to Acronis Backup and Recovery 11 - fails at unintalling the True Image Echo, and stops there.
- i've tried the KB 4117: Acronis True Image Echo Cleanup Utility, the utility fails to uninstall the product.
- i've tried to manually uninstall the application with the steps from this post: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/19350 - but the software is still listed in Add Remove programs, and I cannot install the Acronis Backup and Recovery 11, as it detects the 9.7 Version.

Do you have any advice, before evaluating the last option to reinstall the Server OS?

Thank you,

As far as removing the agent I had a similar issue where it appears to start the uninstall then nothing happens. to resolve the problem I logged in as local admin and killed the Acronis services and uninstalled the agent from Programs and Features and it uninstalled successfully. it required a reboot after uninstalling.
