2011 starts and then shutsdown

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I recently upgraded to 2011 (latest build) and whenever I startup ATI it shows me the main screen for about 5-10 seconds and then it shutsdown. No error message or anything. The mouse turns to the busy icon for a few seconds and then it's gone.

I removed it (using windows add/remove programs) and same result.

The PC is an old windows XP SP3 MCE install which has been very stable since I've had it. Older versions of ATI have been fine on this PC.

Any help would be great.

Cheers,
Matt.

Hi,
I purchased and downloaded "tih_s_e.exe" to upgrade from an old ATI 10 Home and had a similar problem running XP-SP3. I then downloaded and ran the latest build file (without saving the file) to install, and now ATI 2011 seems to be working fine. Good luck.

Hi,
I downloaded the trial version and put it through its paces and I was very pleased, so I purchased the full version. I downloaded the software and it installed okay. When I open the program within a few seconds I get a message the program has stopped working.

I uninstalled the program, re-downloaded, reinstall, 3 Times same result.

Is't time for a refund?

Hello Matt, David and Cooper!

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here! I completely share your concern, and will do my best to help you!

Dear David, thank you for your valudable assistance!

Dear Matt and Cooper,

Unfortunately due to the lack of diagnostic logs it's hard to say for sure what caused the problem. To resolve this issue we would require additional investigation. Please submit a support request with an AcronisInfo, Userdump and an .msi log if applicable.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

I'm running windows 7 x64 and have the same problem with ATI 2011 as Matt describes.
I've submitted full logs and screenshots to Acronis Support.
Still waiting to hear back from them regarding fix/solution.

Below is the text of the application error details.
(I've attached a copy of the error message as well.)

Out of curiosity...I'm wondering whether MSVCR80.dll, version: 8.0.50727.4927 is the correct version that should be installed on my computer.

I have recently upgraded to ATI 2011 and am having the same problem, and the error listed is almost identical. The Faulting module name, Exception code, Fault offset, Faulting module path are all the same, though the TrueImage.exe version is newer, version: 14.0.0.6597, time stamp: 0x4cfc4829. Has there been any solutions that have resolved this problem?

By the way, I submitted a support request on this problem on January 3, 2011, case 01007766, and have yet to get a response on this case. I submitted both an AcronisInfo zip file as well as an install log in reply to the case number listed.

I had very similar symptoms:
- Upgraded my Acronis install on a Windows 7 x64 machine.
- After the upgrade the UI would not open (you did see the process appear for a second in Task Manager).

My fix was to:
- Un-install
- Manually clean the registry
- Install

It has been working fine since I did that.

My guess is that the reason the upgrade did not work properly was that I had installed it in a custom location, and the upgrade did not properly remove all old components.
