(6525) After cloning C drive and installing cloned disk computer wont boot

Thread needs solution

This is build 6525

I thought I would be able to use True Image 2015 to clone my C drive onto a larger disk and then use that larger disk as the replacement C drive? When cloned disk is installed the computer says there is no suitable disk and to install one or something like that.

I only cloned the C drive onto the new disk and not the whole PC. Should I use the whole PC option instead?

A number of years ago I thought I used True Image 11 to clone a disk and use the replacement as the new C drive but 2015 doesn't seem to want to do this.

Hello Paul,

can you please clarify if you connect the cloned disk to the machine using the same controller or not?

Also please provide more details on your steps, environment and desired result.

Thank you!

There is no "whole or entire PC" otpion for a clone operation, you are being confused with a backup. A clone operation is best done through the Ac ronis recovery medium.
- put the new disk on the same connector as the old disk,
- put the old disk on any other connector or usb adapter,
- boot the computer on the Acronis recovery medium. Do not start the clone from Acronis running in Windows.
- clone the old disk onto the new disk
- disconnect the old disk completely
- boot the computer on the new disk. After you have booted once, you can reconnect the new disk if you want to.
