Acronis 2011 and cloning

I have used 2011 for years, but today I have a problem. I use win 7 with sata hard drives. I put a new hard drive in, did all the required partitioning and installed into acronis... I can back up to the e drive but when I try to clone to it from the c drive it gives the message that the process has failed. The reason for the disk change the old e drive died on me. d drive is the cd rom player.
