acronis 2012 not backing up all files

My wife's win 7 laptop needs to go back to HP for repair of the screen. I requested a full backup of her C: to an external D: disk. The backup appear to copy the system files to a series of .TIB files but nothing under documents and settings was copied.

* Why didn't the "my documents" under the "Lori" documents and settings get copied?
* if the D: is formated as "FAT", why is Acronis breaking the backup into 4 GB TIB files, when set on automatic?

1) Because 'my documents' on windows 7 is a some kind of link provided for backward compatibility. It's pointing to c:\users\username\documents. It is backed up and documents are there.
2) It's a limitation of FAT filesystem. It can't store files larger than 4 GB. That's why it may be a good idea to reformat external drive to NTFS if you don't plan to use it on a Macintosh computer also.
