Acronis 2014 AppData Thunderbird - don't panic
Whew. I did a full Acronis Backup a couple of days ago, in preparation for a Windows refresh. The refresh isn't supposed to remove data files.
After the refresh, I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.
Afterwards, I discovered that my Thunderbird Appdata sub-folders, which contain the content of all of my emails from the past 10-15 years, was gone. Not a hidden or anything, just gone.
Apparently, the upgrade DOES delete some of your data files. Or maybe it was the refresh, I have no way of knowing.
So I went into the Acronis tlb file from a couple of days ago, to copy back the missing emails.
Well, at first glance, it looked like Acronis did not backup the Thunderbird Appdata subfolders. However, after letting Windows explorer view Hidden files, and then opening up the tlb file again, the folder WAS there.
(The Appdata subfolders on the C drive, were STILL not there. Confirmed, they are physically gone.)
So - Either Windows Refresh or the 8.0 - 8.1 upgrade DOES delete some data files. But in this case, Acronis 2014 did NOT remove them, and it saved the day.
