Acronis changed the date of my backup set and created a new version

Thread needs solution

Suddenly I have two version of incremental file backups. The original one and one created spontaneously today.

The new one ran automatically while I was at lunch, and I came back to find the number of versions and last backup date has changed has changed on my original backup set. To whit, it used to read "Versions: 5 (last: 3/30/2012) and now it reads "Versions: 4 (last: 3/19/2012)

Can someone help me understand what is going one?

Here you are. It happened again over the weekend. Acronis started a new backup file; now it is back to 1 version created today. If it helps, I unplugged from the external hard drive where my backups are, took my laptop home over the weekend, and then connected to the external hard drive again this morning, with the attached results.

Hello Joe,

Thank you very much for the update and I appreciate the attached diagnostic information.

I will forward your post to our Testing Lab so that we can replicate this issue in our environment.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience, but unfortunately it is not clear at the moment what causes this issue.

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hi Joe,
I've seen behavior similar to this previously. Did you make any changes to your task while the system was disconnected from the media you store your back ups to? Also, do you have quotas or have you set clean ups to delete back ups in old chains after a specified period of time?

No quotas or clean-ups set (I'm using an Incremental scheme.)

The only thing I can think of is I tried the online storage option a couple of weeks ago but cancelled it. Other than that, I don't think I made any changes to the task while disconnected from the storage media -- but anything is possible.

I have exactly the same issue with my incremental backups. Since I am running TI2012 the backups are getting duplicated periodically. I am using quotas and clean ups, but the clean up is not running and I don´t think that this is a quota/clean up problem. The next annoyance is that I have to delete my complete backup task, delete the backup files on the HDD and reimport the backup task and start my backing-up new. Deleting of this duplicated task is not possible, it´s taking days before TI quits the action. The previous versions of TI didn´t show this behaviour.
Nice to see that Acronis didn´t hear about similar problems...like ever... If you find a solution please mail me, otherwise I´m thinking about to move to a different piece of software
