Acronis does not restore - mess "Partition xx has been skipped, because it has not enough space."

Thread needs solution

When I try to restore any image on Windows 8.1 x64, I get:

Partition \local\hd_ev\vol_guid(xxx) of disk \local\hd_gpt(xxx) has been skipped, because it has not enough space.

This fails on disk mode and partition mode. This fails if I make a backup and then immediately try to restore the backup to its original location. Thus the key feature of this product is not working at all.

I'm using Acronis True Image Premium 17,0,0,1877 build 6673

Can anyone help?

Try to restore from the recovery CD to see if that makes any difference.

Thank you for the suggestion but this does not work either.

When I select a partition to restore I have to pick a "New partition location", I cannot select the partition the backup was created from it is greyed out. Why is it greyed out? I just made this backup from that partition.

I also tried selecting to restore the whole disk but then I have to select where each partition should be restored to and have the same problem - many of the partitions are greyed out - why?
