Acronis Loader Fatal error

If Bios is set to AHCI the Acronis CD gets a :
Acronis Loader fatal error:Boot device(partition) not found.
if I set it to IDE it loads. Haven't tried restoring though.
Why did on the same machine using windows 7 and older version of Acronis it worked great now with windows 8.1(which shouldn't make a difference since this is before windows) it doesn't work.
I thought Acronis 2014 would be better... 2 problems I didn't have before ...this and computer won't shut down after backup.
Can't wait for 2015 version maybe Acronis will screw up backing up of files...that would be cool....
