Acronis Recovery Manager to Gpt Disk
Currently, I have a Win OS with an MBR C drive and another 2TB drive labeled D which contains data files and application programs. It is currently an MBR disk also. I want to replace this D drive with a new 3TB drive which needs to be GPT for Win 7 to access. I backed up the D drive with True Image 2014 and want to recover to the new 3TB drive. Using the Acronis Recovery Manager, I declared the new D drive as GPT. I now have the option of copying the MBR and Track 0 of the original D drive to the new 3TB GPT drive. Should I accept this option? Does Win 7 need this information to access the 3TB GPT drive? Thank you for your assistance.

MBR and track 0 is not needed - because it's a GPT disk and MBR is not used for booting from GPT disks, and also because you are going to use it as non-system disk.

Yes, you're right, Fedor. Sorry, Joseph, misread your question. Here's a tutorial from Window Seven Forums if you need to do it using windows utilities: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/26193-convert-mbr-disk-gpt-disk.ht…
