Acronis Scheduler2 Service Not Responding

Thread needs solution

I have a fresh install of ATIH 2012. I don't have any backups scheduled, but when I reboot the computer it says this service isn't responding, and I have to press "end now" to get the computer to reboot. Is there a fix for this?

Thanks....

Does this happen straight after logging on to your system or when you shut the PC down?

What OS are you using?

Do you have any other disk imaging products installed, apart from Microsoft Backup and Restore?

Is it installed for all users or just your login?

In the first instance I would suggest trying a repair install of 2012.

-- when i shut down. the issue is when i go to shut the OS down, i get the error and windows doesn't shut down.

-- Win7 Ult x64

-- i only have the one login

-- this is a fresh install of windows and of Acronis. It was happening on the previous install, so it seems like a bug to me.

Adam,

Is your PC a brand name one, if so whose?

Is W7 at SP1 and it is a standard version of Windows?

When you installed 2012 you would have been offered the choice of installing for all users or single user, which one did you select?

In Windows Service's is RPC set to running and automatic as well as Workstation?

Check to see if you can actually make an image or file backup.

It sounds as though there is something stopping scheduler2 from stopping cleanly, a sort of race condition in reverse.

-- yeah, backups work fine. The only symptom is the error when I shutdown the computer.

Acronis 2110.7160.
Go to 'Tasks and Log', it states: NOT RESPONDING.
Win7, 32, Ultimate. 4 GB DDR 3 My personal ASUS.
BTW. This just started. All programs removed under Msconfig.
I did remove Acronis and reinstalled.

NOTE: System BU's all Tasks that were installed. No problem. I have 19

Harry,

Does this occur at boot time or when you actually open TIH?

What do you mean by 'All programs removed under Msconfig' ?

Did this occur after a recent MS Windows update? There've been quite a few recently.

In services.msc try setting scheduler to delayed start.

When I actually open Acronis.
ALL PROGRMS REMOVED: Under MsConfig I removed all programs including Acronis.
MS UPDATE:. Unknown. Cannot nail it down to any certain time/event.
SERVICES.MSC...Change to "Delayed Start".

I am running Win 7-64 on another Partition. No scripts assigned. But, all is normal.
I went to the Scripts folder W-7-32. Removed all except (9). Acronis showed: (9) Jobs. Same problem.
Q-Under Win-7-32, where are the SCRIPTS supposed to be SAVED? I find (2) places.

Have you tried setting the service to delayed start? There might be a race condition betwen this service starting and another.

Did this begin after a Windows update?

Just to be sure this is not mistaken for a startup issue, mine had the same "description", but it relates to a shutdown.

Specifically seemingly every time that I shut down or reboot (i.e. shut down the system), I receive the Windows dialog telling me it's trying to stop the Acronis Scheduler 2 service. It runs to the end of the delay and then asks me if I want to end the program or cancel the shutdown.

I did not pay attention exactly when it started, but it's very recent.

Ok, it is still caused by a race condition but this time when Windows tries to unload the service. The only way of finding out what is causing it is to run something like sys internals.

the problem is as likely to suddenly disappear as it started. Possibly after the next windows update. You could try reinstalling your video driver.

Other than that, the only other option I can think of for the moment is to write a shutdown commandlet file which stops the service before the shutdown mechanism kicks in.

I think I've posted one somewhere in a thread sometime ago for Vista and Windows 7 systems.

I have a bunch of scripts from Win 7-32. Running W-7-64 I cannot use the same Scripts. Now, where are the scripts supposed to be located?

Assuming that you installed TI into the 64, do a folder search for Scripts and place the contents there. They may or may not work. Certainly, each will be starting as new.
