Acronis on Seagate - reformat

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis on a Seagate 2 terabyte external hard drive. Because the original seagate software was automatically installed and did an initial backup, it is taking up too much of the hard drive.

I want to reformat the Seagate external hard drive, but can't locate any way to do this in the manual.

I assume that once reformatted, I can just restart acronis and redo the backup-ups.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Just use Windows Disk Management or you can probably do it from within Windows Explorer. You will be wise to format it NTFS rather than FAT32 unless you are using it with non-Windows systems or with Win98 or earlier as well.

Search for format in Windows Help for more info.

Yes as Seek forever has suggested, open Windows Disk Management and look at the Seagate graphical view to make sure there is only one partition on the external disk. Then you can right click on the Seagate partition and choose the format option. Be doubly careful to choose the correct disk before starting the format. The format time could be extensive. YOu may want to do it overnight.
