Thanks for answering me. I did a reinstall but it didn't help. Got the same error code. Since I can't get the program to load, my backups are useless. A test of my machine memory shows no errors. Also saw another user in this forum with the exact same problem. Someone suggested to that user to upgrade to the latest version for $29.95. Maybe I'll just go back to Norton Ghost...

I'm sure Acronis works fine in many instances, as some of the reviews do point out. But there are as many reviews that say otherwise, the company's tech support does in fact suck, and that's certainly enough for me to want to get as far away from that product as I can. I unfortunately based my decision to go with Acronis from PC World reviews, and I should know better by now to trust their reviews. Want some real reviews? Go to Amazon and get the unvarnished truth from the customers who actually use the product.

I then downloaded MACRIUM, which turned out to be a model of user-friendly functionality, and it worked perfectly the first time. I tested the image and it is valid.
I have no reason to encrypt my files and I do not need any password protection on any of the files that are in this system, so MACRIUM works very well for me, as no doubt for millions of others who have no need for that level of security. The few files that I have that are important enough to me to keep private are kept elsewhere, making my life a lot simpler. I'd bet my situation is not that all unique, either.

It is not like the program didn't work on your PC ever. It did and now something has changed.
Just because you can't load the program it doesn't mean the rescue CD won't work since it is a different environment - Linux not Vista. Running it takes all Windows stuff out of the picture. All of your backups can be restored via the CD which I hope you tested when you first started using TI.
If you didn't create a rescue CD, you can temporarily load the program on another PC and create it. The CD is hardware independent.

Well, this may just be an odd coincidence but here it is. At the time TI stopped working I was also having difficulty updating Adobe Flash Player. This evening I finally got around to taming Adobe Flash Player. Then, on a whim, I gave TI one more shot and it loaded. No error message. I didn't know TI required Adobe Flash Player in order to run but it does seem to be the case. Thanks to all who took an interest in my problem.

I don't think TI needs Adobe Flash. It is more likely something got put into proper order when the Adobe issue got fixed.
