Acronis TIH 2012 Continually Crashes

Thread needs solution

Every time I launch the ATIH 2012 client, it crashes about 15 minutes after launching.

Typically I start a backup and whilst the backup is running, the client crashes. The backup, which must be running as a background service, continues to run.

It's very frustrating and I'm very loathe to invest in the upgrade to 2013, when I've had continual problems with 2102.

Has anybody had similar problems?

Or does anybody have any ideas about what might be causing the problem?

Many thanks for your assistance.

I would suggest that you export your tasks and settings using the Tools and Utilities Page tool to do so. Then use the add/remove programs feature in Windows to un-install 2012. Then download the 2012 cleanup utility from here: http://kb.acronis.com/content/24545 and run it following the directions very carefully. After that be sure that you have the lastest build of 2012 (7133). It is available from your Acronis account online (https://www.acronis.com/my/index.html) if you have created one and registered your serial number(s). If you have not created an Acronis account, do so and register your serial number. Then go to My Products and Downloads and you will see 2012 listed and you can then download the 7133 build and use that file to install 2012 again on your system. Then import your tasks and settings using the same tool used to export them. You may need to re-schedule your tasks after importing them.

Jaydub,

What type of backup are you running? Do the crashes happen always at the same point in that backup?

Pat,

Done some tests. Acronis GUI runs quite happily if just launched (left it running for 1 hour doing nothing). so the problem appears to be when it is doing a backup. I've managed a 5 minute incremental complete, but then set a larger one off only to come back eiight minutes after it started to see a popup saying True Image has had a problem.

Just tried relaunching it whilst the backup is running and it crashes almost immediately.

I'll try James' suggestion and see whether that makes a difference.

Jon

I have followed James instructions for removal and installed the latest version and have created a new full back up. The back up duration was 1 hour 40 minutes and the GUI hasn't crashed.

Looking positive.

Keep us posted on any additional findings, please.

James

Just completed my first weekly incremental and that has completed without the GUI crashing. Looks like it's fixed.

Many thanks for your help.

Spoke too soon. :(

I started a new incremental cycle with a full backup this morning and the GUI had crashed by the time I checked it about 10 minutes after the start of the backup.

Would welcome further suggestions about how I might resolve this issue.
