Acronis True Image 2010 and VHD
Based upon the following entry in the data sheet for Acronis True Image 2010.
Save backup images (.tib) as virtual hard disk (.vhd) files. Run your existing system as a virtual machine, or boot using Windows 7 Ultimate
I purchased upgrade. I then did backup and process to convert to .vhd. I tried to first use .vhd in Virtual PC 2007 and it wouldn't mount. I then tried with Virtual PC that comes with Windows 2007 and had same problem.
Has anyone had success converting .tib to .vhd and then running from Virtual PC? Is there some trick or process I am missing.
Of note the hard disk I backed up was Windows XP. It was about 90 GB, tib was about 80 GB and .vhd created was about 150 GB. This seems odd in itself.
I tried submitting issue to Acronis support but that was several days ago and I haven't heard a thing back from them.

Have a question regarding the latest version of VMWare Workstation V. 7.1.3 along with the latest version of VM Comverter. This version states that it can import an Acronis TrueImage 10 (.tib) file and change it into a virtual machine. I have tried this running Win7, WinVista, and WinXP without success.
VMWare VCenter Converter Standalone v. 4.3.0, when used to try to convert a TruImage 10 backup returns "The source parameters are invalid" but does not offer a method of changing the source parameters.
When attempting to "import" the TruImage 10 files into VMWare Workstation v.7.1.3 the conversion wizard returns a "unable to load the source virtual machine or image. The file might be corrupt, or an unsupported format."
The image files are not corrupt and TruImage backup and restore work correctly with the tested image files. The VM chat rooms mention a few possible workarounds but these are time consuming and not really practical in the long run given that VM claims to work with these images.
Has anyone attempted these conversions and found a successful solution.
Thanks,
Jim Mooney

VMware is TIH v10 aware, but none of the later ones such as 2009, 2010 or 2011.

Sorry Colin B but VMWare Converter version 4.3.0 mentioned by Jim Mooney does say it will convert Acronis TI Home all the way to 2011 ("version 13" as it were)

Don't forget, v11 is not the same as v2011, I couldn't get 2011 to convert.
