Acronis True Image 2010: images are compressed?

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I'm going to purchase 2 licenses of Acronis True Image 2010, and I got the following questions:

1) The images of the disk, created by True Image, are compressed?
If yes, what's roughly the compression ratio?

2) The disk images are browseable?

thanks in advance,
Enrico

Wrong category for TI - there's a specific forum for TI. This topic is Backup & Recovery.

But I'll answer your questions ;-)

Yes, the images are compressed and the ratio depends what you are backing up. If the files are already compressed (such as large photo or video libraries), then you'll get a very small ratio. If you've got lots of SQL database MDF files, then you'll get a good compression ratio as these files are loosely packed. To be honest, the backup ratio of Acronis products is not a source for concern for me - it's good enough and probably compares very well with other products.

Yes, the images are browsable - you can simply double-click on an image in Explorer and the contents appear.

Cheers, Rob.
