Acronis True Image 2011
My computer crashed and had to have VISTA Home Premium reinstalled. I have a WD Elements - 1 tb external HD.
I did a recovery using Acronis True Image 2011 from the WD on "Documents" and each and every "sub-folder" and everything I recovered has a "read only" status.
I have tried to change this in the "Properties" section of Documents as well as all the folders.
I un-clicked the "blue box" and did an apply and OK - the "do this option to all folders, sub-folders was checked and the computer worked its magic and went through all of them to change the "read only" status to "unread status".
I created a new graphic and tried to do a "Save As" in the Document folder that I wanted and it would not let me - I keep getting you don't have permission. I went into control panel and checked the user status and re-clicked all of the functions I wanted the "user" to do and said OK.
When I go back to all the Documents and its sub-folders and checked each of them - the blue box is checked again - they had reverted back to "read only".
Next, after reading a "how to article, I went under "My Computer" and found Documents and all its folders to tried to change the "read only" status there did the same procedure as stated above and they still revert back to "read only". I am at a loss as what to do next. I HAVE TO HAVE ACCESS TO THESE FOLDERS ASAP.
Can you help me figure out how and what I need to do to fix this. I have websites I need to work immediately and can't do a "Save As". The Administrator as well as the Standard User has complete authority to do anything on my computer so, I don't understand what the problem is.
I contacted the tech support that did the reinstall of VISTA and they said that the
backup had to be unlocked for it to do a recovery without a read only status - which
I questioned.
At this point, I contacted WD and talked with the rep there. He said that the WD Element
does not come with software and that the recovery should be no problem and the recovery
would not place a "read only" status on my documents or, any sub-folders that it recovered
The tech said that the problem was with the Acronis Backup software.
My question is with a new VISTA install, does the Acronis backup not recognize my
computer and putting a "read only" status on my recovered documents??
PLEAS HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT!!
I would appreciate any help that you can give me.
Thank you so much for your help.
