Acronis True Image 2014 - Server not restarted after taking Image
Hi to everybody,
I hope somebody could help me with the issue I had last week.
I had to take the backup image of some Industrial Server, following the hardware specifications:
CPU Intel Haswell Core i7 4650U 1.7GHz dual-core
Memory DDR3L 1.35V non-ECC 8G
Slot1 & Slot2 Storage 2 x 2.5’’ SATA SSD RAID1
1 x CFast socket Display
1 x DB15 VGA
1 x DVI-D (Resolution: 1920 x 1080)
I have connected my external HDD to save the Image and then I have also connected the USB stick with the Bootable Acronis 2014.
I have started the server and entered the BIOS to change the Boot Priority (from Internal HDD to CD/DVD Drive or External Drive).
I saved and exit the BIOS, restarted the Server and Acronis started. I have successfully created and saved the Image of the complete Server (2xSSD with RAID 1 and CFast drive).
When I restarted the server, I just got a black screen, without any sound like "beep" that said me that the server was starting. No cursor or infos or error on the screen. Only a lot of nothing.
I tried to restart manually and to reset the BIOS, but I had always the same result.
I know from the vendor of the Server, that they are using a new BIOS architecture called UEFI.
I'm sorry but I'm not very expert in this field.
Do you know if this issue could be related to Acronis True Image 2014 version and some parameters or version of this server?
Thank you very much in advance for your support.
With Best Regards,
D.

Since the BIOS was manually reset, I supect the RAID is not setup anymore and/or as Steve mentioned, other settings like secure boot may need to be enabled. It also depends on how the OS was installed as to whether or not the bios should have CSM\legacy enabled... on some UFEI motherboards, to boot to any extenal drive, you not only have to disable secure boot, but also enable CSM\legacy - just to boot a UEFI recovery media!
Have you checked to verify that the SATA mode is set to RAID and that the existing RAID is still there? If not, yoiu may need to import it back. NOt sure what type of server and/or RAID controller you have installed so checking the RAID configuration and/or importing a foreign configuration will vary on different systems.

Thank you Steve and Bobbo,
for sure I will recommend my company to upgrade from ATIH 2014 to ATIH 2017. Since the vendor of the server informed us that they are using UEFI BIOS only after this issue, we didn't disable anything before using ATIH 2014.
I managed to remove the SSD drives and checked that all the datas were still there, but it was not possible to enter in the BIOS and check the configuration because the server was not connecting to any screen. Now we sent the server to the factory, because the only way to repair them, based on what the vendor told us, is to replace the HW component of the BIOS.
I hope to receive more answers from them, since I am sure too that ATIH 2014 is ok, because we have used since long time...and also we managed to create the images of these servers successfully!
Thank you again for your fast support!
