Acronis True Image 2015 Lockup Issue

Thread needs solution

I rebuilt my system with a new SSD 256GB drive. After installing Acronis True Image 2015, the backup starts, gets to about 1 minute left and locks up my system with the local drive in Task Manager hitting 100% usage. Can't do anything during this time and the backup never completes after waiting 30 - 45 minutes. If I try to restart my computer, after waiting 15+ minutes, it never restarts. I have to hard reboot the system. I have insured all MS updates have been completed. The system runs fine as long as I don't run a backup. I have rebuilt my system 3 times this weekend but have not successfully performed a backup. This system is running windows 8.1 with 16Gb of memory and Quad processor. When I had the old SSD 128GB drive, I never had an issue. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I really like Acronis but frustrated with it locking up my system. I did not set Acronis to run at high priority but normal. I am also getting Acronis Not Responding sometime.

Your issue sounds like the one I have that I just posted, "True Image 2015 Freezes". What kind of SSD did you just install? Was it a Crucial MX100 by any chance? I think that's what Acronis can't handle on mine.

I just purchased a OCZ 460A 240GB SSD drive and should have it installed by this weekend. If Acronis works on it I will ship back the Crucial. I will update you after I get it installed and configured.

There have been a good number of reported freeze/lockup issues with Crucial SSD's. The issue has been elevated to the developers however to the best of my knowledge no solution has been reached yet.

For posters to this thread Anna Trifonova should be contacted via PM about your issue. It seems that a new snapapi has been released that works on some users machines.

So I received my new OCZ 460A 240GB SSD drive and Acronis backup works fine on this new drive. BTW - Make sure if your system BIOS has it, turn on AHCI before building the SSD drive as this is the recommended configuration for these drives. If your BIOS does not have this option, it will still work as a standard IDE drive. Thanks

I have tried to reach out to her but I have not gotten a response. Can anyone assist me with the resolution? I have a 256GB SSD I cant use with Acronis until I can get this resolved. Thanks

Hello Gerald,
I've replied to your message and sent you needed instructions. Sorry for the delay!

If any Acronis support or developers are monitoring this thread, you guys should really fix this ADD 12 and ATI 2015 with Crucial MX100 and MX200 problem. It completely hozes up a Win 8.1 installation, even after uninstallation, reboot, etc. Even the bootable flash or CD image freezes up. It requires a complete Reinstall to fix.
I just spent 3 days troubleshooting this problem with a new Crucial CT250MX200SSD4 SATA completely in the dark. It's really only discussed on a German site.
After using Acronis for 6+ years, I am so dismayed that I just bought multiple copies of Paragon Hard Disk manager and will no longer use Acronis in my business to avoid the time suck and extreme hassle.
Seriously, you guys should really not take this problem lightly. Own up to the problem and fix it, stop trying to bury it. You had a good software product here and you are not just losing customers and recurring revenue, you are actually creating NEW business for your competitors out of pain. There are a lot of Crucial SSD's out there in the wild, and customers will simply vote with their feet and dollars.

Hello, same issue with Crucial_CT250MX200SSD6 and TI2013 & 2015.
Please, some help would highly appreciated.
Kind regards.
Alain

I hope Acronis staff will read and respond to this thread..

I have had to uninstall Acronis from my machine with the Crucial SSD in it to stop it from freezing my main work machine. Other than that, everything runs fine with the Crucial drive.

I have been waiting to see if Acronis will say anything about this problem, whether they will address it or not, and if so, when. All there has been is silence from Acronis as far as I can tell. If I'm wrong, please point me at the response.

I can't wait a lot longer with no backups. If Acronis continues to remain silent, I will have to assume they don't acknowledge the problem and wont' fix it, and I'll have to buy some other backup product.

I'm pretty much at that point now, so if Acronis has anything to say, please say it.

thanks,
a long time customer

Hi James,
I've sent you a private message with a link to the updated SnapAPI driver, which should fix the problem.
This fix will be included in the next update of Acronis True Image 2015, but we don't have the exact release date yet.
Thank you,

I'm having the same issue with TI 2015 freezing when trying to add a new backup to the list. Please provide link to the new driver. Thank you.
