Acronis True Image has detected unsupported hard disk drives.
Getting an error when trying to clone disk. Acronis seems to not like a new Toshiba drive that I am trying to clone to. Drive is basic, not dynamic. I deleted the partition and did a quick format to make sure everything looked good. Still get same error. Why?

Have you checked your source disk for errors?

It is running Windows 7 64-bit. both disks are NTFS basic disks. Have tried Acronis 2010 and 2011, both give same error.

Also tried cloning on another system. Same results.

This is usually due to errors on the source disk if the disks (not dynamic or GPT) are supported by the version of True Image you are using.
Open an administrative command prompt from Windows 7 and run
chkdsk X: /f (substituting X with your drive letter)
Check to see if the clone works at this point, if not run this command from an administrative command prompt:
chkdsk X: /r (substituting X with your drive letter)
The /f parameter only checks and fixes the file system, /r checks and fixes the file system and performs a surface scan looking for bad blocks on the volume. The /r command will take some time on large volumes.
Check again to see if the clone works.
Run chkdsk on each partition/volume in your system

Used a standalone disk cloning system and it worked fine.

Hi Jim, am facing a similar issue. What do you mean by standalone disk cloning system? Much appreciated, thanks.
