Acronis True Image Home 11 and corrupted disk drive?

Thread needs solution

Hi, I have a corrupted hard drive, I think it probably does have bad sectors on it. It's my C drive with OS (Vista Home Premium 64bit) and programs on it. The drive is also partitioned. I would like to make an exact copy of it, inc MBR, partition info, all programs and data, which would be restored onto a fresh working hard drive. This might sound naive, but I want all of my info etc and would like to avoid transferring problematic areas onto my new hard drive if that is possible.

So I'm guessing I make a 'Disks and Partitions Backup', with a 'Sector-By-Sector Approach'? In error handling do I 'Ignore Bad Sectors'?

I'd appreciate any advice.

Initially I would run 'chkdsk c: /r /f' (if C is indeed the drive). This will fix any bad sectors first and if any do contain data it may be able to recover them before you try a backup. The backup you suggest would be ok but but not sector by sector.
