Acronis True Image Home 2012 Plus Pack.

Thread needs solution

I purchased "Acronis True Image Home 2012 Plus Pack" (ATIH2012PP). I had to change my old (6 years) motherboard (Tyan for an ASUS) and also the hard disk for a larger one. I would like to perform backup/restore, obviously from the old to the new system. ATIH2012PP is supposed to do that. I am unable to locate documentation related to this subject. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Jamel

YOu should be able to startup the program and go to help or you can use the userguide for ati20912, which incluedes info on the plus pack:

Jamel, the main issue you will encounter is the different drivers for the two systems when you either clone your old drive to the new drive or use the backup of the old drive and restore to the new drive. I highly suspect you will encounter numerous driver issues and it is possible that once restored the new system will not boot because of the driver issues. With the new system you have a different CPU (not a bid deal), different NIC, Graphic card, sound card, CD drive, etc. (they may not work with the drivers from the old system).

Example, I recently installed a SSD as my boot drive but it was necessary for me to completely re-install everything. What I was able to do was to use the Users\myid\AppData from the old image with the new build and preserve the settings.

Prior to the SSD change a year ago I built a new system and it would have been really neat if I could have just cloned the old drive on the new drive in the new system but it was not possible because of the driver issues or at least this was my understanding.

I don't know of anyway around the driver issue, perhaps it is just beyond my skill set.
