Acronis WD edition - clone fails

I bought a Western Digital 1 TB SATA drive to upgrade my 500 GB Hitachi. I've manually adjusted the partitions so they aren't proportionately larger (because I don't need the system partition as large) and started the clone operation. It proceeds fine and I get the "reboot" message. After the computer reboots and starts up Acronis during the reboot, the screen seems to successfully start up and finally the progress window appears with the two check boxes "restart system" or "shut down system" after cloning operation is complete.

This windwo stays up for 10-20 seconds, then disappears and the system freezes. Same thing every time, except that the first few times I did it it didn't get to the progress window, it just restarted back to the Windows start screen as though nothing had happened (and nothing did - no clone)

The log shows the following message: Blocking operation was cancelled

I've also tried it using bootable media. Still freezes. I'm using Windows Vista and the last time I did this, about 3 years ago, I had no issues.
