Add New Disk makes the HDD disappear
I bought a 3TB HDD for WinXP 32 bit machine, connected it and ran Acronis 2013 "Add new disk." Acronis recognized the full capacity (about 2.8TB) and it allowed me to create partitions in the first 2TB of space. Note that I tried to run the Extended Capacity Manager but it said that I had to use "Add new disk" first. After I created some partitions and "Finished" the Add disk operation in Acronis, which took a long time, it required a reboot. After reboot, the entire 3GB drive is gone. I can still see it in the BIOS (although it shows up as an 8xxGB drive), but after Acronis modified it, nothing in Windows can recognize it. Acronis 2013 does not see it at all with any of its disk utilities, and I tried WinXP Computer Management / Storage / Disk Management tool and it does not appear at all. Could Acronis have created a GUID partition table? Anybody know how to undo what Acronis did?
