After cloning DiskDirector and TrueImage both hang on analysing

Thread needs solution

Hello all

I cloned my internal HD to a new internal HD
and then - I think this was my mistake -
rebooted with both internal HDs still connected.

I switched off, disconnected the old HD and rebooted.
Windows (XP Pro SP3) booted as normal
- but my external HD was no longer recognized.
I changed the hex volume ID of the new internal HD by one digit, rebooted
and this did the trick.

However, my two Acronis products
- TrueImage Home 10 and Dis Direcor 10
- both hang on analysing.

I thought I would try uninstalling and reinstalling my Acronis products
but this also gets stuck on analysing.
I cannot uninstall them.
Both are now unusable.

Any way out of this impasse ?

Best regards from Ray

SOLVED

Hello again

I managed to solve this problem.
In fact TI and DD were not hanging
but they were taking hours to complete analysis.

I used SeaTools-for-DOS on a burned CD
- taking extreme care to specify only the new HD -
to zero it (which has the effect of reinitializing).

I left both HDs connected (SATA),
To be on the safe side,
I modified the BIOS
so that only the old HD was used for booting.

I then repeated the disk clone in TrueImage.

This time I made sure I disconnected the old HD,
and used its SATA cable for the new HD.
It worked.

Acronis - please note :
I think the cloning procedure should include
a warning - loud and clear -
that if the old HD is kept as it is, i.e. bootable,
then ONLY ONE HD should be left connected on rebooting.
