After DR Recovery TrueImage is Not Aware Of Latest Backups

Thread needs solution

Hello Everyone,

My PC crashed today and thankfully I do a monthly drive image back up of my C: drive and MBR so I was able to get back up and running. However, the issue I now have is that when I open my Acronis TrueImage 2014, all my scheduled backups think that their last backup was from the date this drive image was restored from.

So say I restored a drive image from Jan 1, and today is Jan 21.... even though I see my backups from 1/1 to 1/21 on the physical drive, Acronis isn't aware of them. It is now screwing up my retention cycles and what truly needs to get backed up.

Is there a procedure for "synchronizing" Acronis with your latest backups after a bare-metal restore like i did?

Thank you,
Adam

Each of us handle it differently.

Your choice is to stop using the existing tasks and start over with new tasks pointing to new sub-folders with no intermixing of backup ifles. You can use the clone task option so the edits to the clone are minimal for the new tasks.

Or, you can delete specific backups. For example, If you restored a Jan 10 backup, the program knows nothing of Jan 10 backup and anything newer. The Jan 10 backup was a snapshot at that momemt . The restore put it back to that snapshot time so the program knows nothing about the backups from Jan 10 to Jan 21. The last backup recorded in the Metafile history was the Jan 9 backup which was the last backup at the Jan 10 snapshot time. This Jan 10-21 group could be deleted (manually outside the program) and the next backup created would have the same backup number as the Jan 10 did. Of course, these deletions should be done with TI closed and preferable the delete before Acronis is opened for the first time following the restore.

Edit:
Of course, you could do nothing (not recommended) and the backup would continue with a -1 added and the backups would start numbering again (any automatic cleanup or consolidation would be delayed and restartl, but I do not know of any way of determing exactly what to restore if you needed to restore one of the new backups.
