Another ATIH 2011 Build 6597 Bug - Email Notifications not accurate.

Thread needs solution

I have email notifications turned on for my Nightly file backup that uses the version chain technique. Following issues with notification:

Email notifications for completion of a backup include the log entries (also seen when viewing the logs in ATIH GUI). Because I had already created a full backup and 6 incrementals, tonight's run should have produced a full backup. In reality it did do a full backup. The new backup file was full sized, and the OS file creation date/time matched with tonights run of ATIH scheduled backup. The email notification I received immediately following execution (and the log entries for tonights run) were totally wrong, though. The file name listed in the email (and shown in the log) was instead the file name of the incremental .tib file created the previous night, and the backup type listed in the email was "incremental" not full. If I browse for recovery files (Explore and recover) in the ATIH GUI and look at the file created tonight, it is shown as a full backup.

Also, Notifications for completion of the incremental backup jobs do not include the file name at all. The message looks like this:
11 Information 12/16/2010 9:49:51 PM Create Incremental Backup Archive From: My Data To file: "" Compression: High

(Notice there is no file name listed between the pair of quotes)

While not a show stopper, it clearly shows a lack of testing or sloppy programming.

Maybe it'll get corrected in a future update.
