Archive Open Error

Thread needs solution

I have a customer that is using Acronis True Image Home 2012 and have issues with some backup files. I currently have got a copy of 4 files with the following dates

5/12/13
31/1/14
17/4/14
24/4/14

For some reason the 5/12/13 will open but the other 3 all report "An error occurred while opening the backup archive". I've checked permissions as noted on another post here but all are exactly the same. I desperately need to get into the 24/4/14 one to restore some files

Just to add to this, I've used the boot disk and when clicking on the latest file, I get the message "This is not the last volume of the backup archive"

Can you provide the compete tib name for each file and the file sizes. That may give us a clue as to the type backup file which is involved. Unfortunately, there is no repair mechanism.

Hopefully, all files are inside the same folder or together on the same root as one may be dependent upon the presence of the others.

Ok thanks

Kate.tib - 116Gb - 31/1/14
Kate2.tib - 128Gb - 5/12/13 - Only one that works
Kate3.tib - 123Gb - 17/4/14
Kate4.tib - 7Gb - 24/4/14

Stuart,
Thank you but the names are of no help. More detailed naming began with 2013.

Have you tried opening this using a TI Recovery CD either of 2012 or 2013 or 2014 or a fresh version of 2012.

To be sure all are in one folder.

I can't be of any help. Based on its size, I "assumed" that the 7GB is based on the 123GB file

One of the commitments Acronis make to its users is that it will help in recovery issues but this is with the owner of the license email account.

One optioin would be for you to download the 2014 trial version.
Then register the trial license and registering will give you access to download the ISO bootable media file.
After downloading the iso, you can burn that file to CD. For example, using Win7, you can right click on the iso file and choose OPEN WITH "windows disk image burner".

After you have a 2014 version Recovery CD,
Try opening the files using this CD.
If still no success, contact Acronis supportlive chat for help as a recovery problem.

I think one of my engineers mentioned that the 7Gb one was a selective backup hence the smaller size. I have tried downloading the 2014 trial onto my workstation and opening the files directly and a 2012 recovery cd.

Think I'm going to have to contact support however it will have to be through the 2014 trial as I can't get anything for the purchased 2012 version

Acronis advertises they will help with recovery issues and that would also apply to the 2012 version.
Contact them via support channels via your registered account.

Yep I think I'm going to have to call a main number as there are no support options when I select my registered 2012 product

When you fill out the support ticket, be sure and mark the issue as a recovery issue.
