Assigning Drive Letters to External HDD

Thread needs solution

Hi
If I assign specific Drive letters to my two external HDDs will this have any detrimental effect upon the functioning of Acronis TrueImage 2014?

Assigning specific drive letters to the external disks being used for storage of backups is a good idea. Letters such as x or y or z are good ones.

When creating a new backup task, the drive with the correct drive letter needs to be attached during the creation.

If you have already created the task prior to the re-lettering, you will need to use the "move" option
to advise the program of the letter changes.

To use the move option,
choose one task and insert the disk used for storage of that task.
Use the Move option to point the destination to the new drive letter location for that task.

Thanks for the input. I am using Drives Y & Z.

Also, I forgot to add that the specific letterws will only be assigned by the computer to that assigned to letters.

If you attach these two disks to another computer, the drive letter assignemt does not apply and the next available letters in liine will be assigned.

Thanks - yes, I did know that. I use these same two drives on two other machines and I seem to recall having to do the assignment on each one.
