ATI 14 does not recover but says recovery complete after a few seconds.

I attempted to restore Win 8.1 C: ATI image from external USB but the process was said by Acronis TI 14 to be problem with USB disk.

So I fresh installed W8, reinstalled ATI 14 and when I recovered various backups each time ATI indicated recovery was complete after only several seconds. However, it only goes to the installed Windows 8, and not the recovery image with all my programs etc.

I’ve attempted to recover 2 separate backups, from an internal hard drive on my computer, as well as the one I wish to use (the latest) on the external USB device. I’ve attempted recovery multiple times on each of the 3 separate backups. I have used the recovery program from the installed ATI as well as running it from the ATI recovery CDs multiple times without success.

I will greatly appreciate advice.
