ATI 2010 Locks computer. Wont run backup. Possible security permissions problem.

Thread needs solution

I have just reciently purchased the full version of ATI 2010 for my vista, high spec machine. I had previously ran the free version of 2009 without error. The program installed fine, and lets me select backup and options, but when I click to run the backup my screen changes to a "Task Scheduler" window, even though I am trying to just run a once off backup, and my computer locks up.

To date through numberous support scessions I have taken the following actions, none of which have resolved this issue.

- Uninstalled and Reinstalled.
- Disabled Firewall and removed antivirus program
- Ran SnapApi drivers update
- Reinstalled operating system and programs
- Tried to run scheduler update, which gives the following error message and will not run...
Error: 5 <0x5> - Access is denied. [SC] StartServices: OpenService FAILED 1060: The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

I have checked the inheritable permissions of the acronis folder and shared folder. User account "Everyone" has full permissions.

Unlike many on this forum, I do not get an error message of any kind. My computer brings up the task scheduler window and it just sits there and locks up the computer. Eventually I have to reset it as I can't shut it down properly or close ATI.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Jay,

I understand the issue and I think it’s not related to Acronis Scheduler. You see we have recently experienced an issue concerning SnapAPI malfunction using builds 6029 and 6053 of Acronis True Image Home 2010. The symptoms were similar as you have described, OS freezes when you try to perform an operation using Acronis true Image Home 2010.

Though you mentioned that you have already updated SnapAPI drivers please make sure that you have used SnapAPI build 503.

To solve the issue, install a special driver update with fixes on the machine:

Let me know if the issue persists.

Thank you.

I have a similar problem with Win 7 64-bit. It took me some time to discover that the scheduler is the problem. When a task is scheduled it will not run and hangs during snapshot and never creates the temporary file! I finally loaded 2010 on Win 7 RC 64-bit and both scheduled and one-click backups were successful. Uninstalling and reinstalling on the production version did not resolve the issue and neither did the scheduler patch. One-click backups are successful so I still have a scheduler problem that remains unresolved. The OS does not freeze but scheduled tasks never run.

I have tried to locate the SnapAPI Build 503 drivers that are mentioned in the posts to solve the scheduler problem. Does anyone know what the download link is?
