ATI 2012 install question

Thread needs solution

I'm currently running ATI 2011 Update 3 (Build 6942). Is ATI 2012 an upgrade (over 2011), or is it a fresh install (i.e. 2011 is uninstalled and 2012 is resintall afterwards)? I participated in the discount program (i.e. price countdown) and would like to know what I'm getting and how it's installed (note: support for 2011 expired, so I can no longer ask tech support any questions).

In fact, all ATIH versions are complete installs.

That's as opposed to some applications' updaters that work only to update an existing installation, and won't act as a fresh install. I must say, I see far fewer of those sort of updaters these days. At one time they were common, but nowadays it seems most software I use issues complete new installers for new versions.

While each version and build of ATIH is a full installer package, there may be licensing steps. If you purchase at the upgrade discount price, you'll likely need to enter both the serial number of your original ATIH purchase, and a serial number for the new version. (I think that's the way it now works, if it doesn't then someone should correct me.) Always retain all your ATIH serial numbers.

My main concern is, will (new) install of ATIH 2012 incorporate the settings I had for 2011, or do I have to reconfigure my settings afterwares?

Actually, it would be safest if you uninstalled 2011 and used the cleanup utility downloadable from Acronis prior to installing 2012. Before doing any of that, make a full disk backup of your system. That way, you can restore using the bootable recovery media if you have problems with 2012.
