ATI 2012 won't start on Win7 x64

Thread needs solution

I successfully installed ATI 2012 on a newly formated WIn7 x64 machine. All motherboard and other drivers have been installed. No other software has been installed. In fact ATI 2012 was the first piece of software installed ont he machine after installing Windows and installing all the drivers.

I launched ATI 2012 and used it to successfully create an image of my c drive to a second sata drive in the machine. The next time I tried to start ATI, it would not start. The little windows circle turned on the screen, and then went away, and the program never started. I've rebooted several times, and get the same result when trying to start the program. It never appears. I checked Task Manager, and don't see it listed as running there either.

I've used this product succesfully on 2 other Windows 7 machines, but they are both 32 bit. This is the first time I tried it on a 64 bit machine. And yes, I did purchase 3 licenses.

Is this a known problem with Windows 7, x64 machines?

Brian,
My suggestion would be to restart the installation download and choose the repair option. If you need another copy of the install file, you can download from your Acronis accoun t.

If you are only backiing up the Drive C, you are probably uinable to create a replacment disk from your backup as your backups are incomplete. Click on link #2 below for more ifo about the 2012 and 2013 backup tasks. I suggest a full disk mode backup.

Thank you for your help. I'd read in another thread that another user had similar problems, through repeated reboots, but that when he used the computer the following day, ATI started up normally. I had a simliar experience. I turned on the computer today, and ATI started up properly, and I was able to use it to image the entire disc (rather than the c partition) as you suggested. Thank you for the tutorial on the subject. It does make sense to image the entire drive, to make sure the reserved partition is also included in the backup.

Again, thanks for your help. I hope ATI continues to function properly. If not, I'll try the repair installation as you suggest.
