ATI 2013pp recovery CD fails to start
I tried to boot my "white box" computer using the ATI 2013 disk which has worked correctly several times in the past. Fortunately it was only a test, since I got the following mesage:
Starting Acronis Loader...
Acronis Loader fatal error: Boot drive (partition) not found. Press <Enter> to try to boot to your OS...
I have used this same CD to do a full "bare metal" recovery from a crashed drive in the past. I downloaded the latest recovery ISO and it failed the same way. Other disks such as the MS installation and repair disks, created on the same machine, are working as they should.
I did create a bootable USB using the Acronis Recovery Media software, and that does work. Since the bootable USB works I am OK, but having something which did work suddenly behave oddly makes me curious/worried. The computer is a WIN7 Pro SP1 32 bit.
Any suggestions what is going on?

Steve,
I tried a different make of CD, a DVD, burned them on another computer, and even tried a USB CD/DVD which I normally use on another computer, just to be certain. Nice collection of coasters. :)
The EasyBCD program looks interesting, though I will need to wait until next weekend to try it.

Treg, the only note of warning with using the EasyBCD approach is that the ISO image is obviously stored on your same hard disk unless you have more than one drive or have multiple partitions. For myself, I created a separate small partition just to hold this type of image file (as you can see from some of the screen shots in the PDF document). It is still a risk if the drive fails but works fine for recovering a different partition etc.

Steve,
I solved the problem by using the Acronis feature in the 2013 PP to build a bootable WINPE version of the repair disk. Works fine, and since it requires a functioning computer to build a custom version, I burned 3 disks, all of which work perfectly.
Still not sure why the original disk and new ones made from the current downloadable ISO stopped working.
Learning about EasyBCD for future use was worth the effort. Well, almost. :)
Thanks!
